Natacha Atlas. Habibi: Classics and Collaborations

2CD, released July 2013.

Natacha Atlas is a name synonymous with that musical meeting point between the East and the West. Habibi brings together her finest collaborations – with artists such as Jocelyn Pook, Jah Wobble, Nitin Sawhney and Justin Adams – alongside favourites from her solo career and a few exclusive, previously unreleased tracks.

“For the casual listener, Habibi: Classics and Collaborations will provide marvel after marvel of this woman's stunning work. For those initiated listeners who have been following Atlas’s work for some time already, they are privy to a secret that never should have been kept.” Imran Khan, PopMatters

“Atlas’s sensuous serpentine voice coils its way around a diverse set of songs, from the heavily groove-centred to the ethereally acoustic, making each one her own.” Howard Male, The Independent

Beginner’s Guide to Scandinavia

3CD, released 2011.

“Let the arguments begin. Even a triple-disc survey cannot begin to be comprehensive – admirers of the pioneering saxophonist Jan Garbarek, for instance, will argue that he ought to have at least one track of his own – but, as a snapshot of a sprawling region, the playlist throws up more than enough treats and surprises to satisfy all but the most puritanical souls. The jazz and experimental disc leans towards the more ambient end of the spectrum, but EST make the cut alongside the likes of Bugge Wesseltoft and Nils Petter Molvaer. The accordionist Maria Kalaniemi leads the charge on the hypnotic folk segment and the idiosyncratic pop section sweeps away all those Abba clichés.” Clive Davis, The Sunday Times

“A pastor’s smorgasbord as opposed to a curate’s egg this one.” Harry Guerin, RTÉ
